"Site" the dog then move the treat to the ground just in front of the nose. Try to be away from other voices. But dogs make choices very differently from people. But a nearly equal number will underestimate the time, skill and elbow grease it takes to do it as it needs to be done - Especially if they are a new dog owner and have bought a high energy breed when they should have gone for a lower energy submissive type. Be patient, clear and consistent. With repetition comes understanding. There are alternate explanations for their behavior. Dogs can be amazing at understanding spoken communication. They will usually just endure the punishment without learning anything. For the slow learner or assertive dog, it may be necessary to use a collar and short leash - two to four feet is best - 'Sit' the dog and kneel down facing him. Follow those futile techniques and you'll harvest the pay back of a neurotic dog and you will be an unhappy owner.Dog Training - Down Command - Dogs have a natural inclination to adhere to a hierarchy with an alpha (leader) at the top. But they can be easily distracted, or fail to associate today's case of 'come' with yesterday's action and subsequent reward. Take special care with young hips - don't force a completely uncooperative dog this way. With a treat or toy, face the dog and place it above his head and slightly behind the forehead, but still visible. That way a dog associates the behavior with the command. So, the dog hasn't evolved to understand why you're hitting them. Don't be harsh, but don't give up easily either. They don't associate cause and effect in the same way.To command sit, stand and face the dog then make the command. But dogs tend to be happy when the alpha is, and upset when he is.As a result, it can be frustrating to repeat the same command over and over, only to have the dog apparently ignore you. Some dogs likely are what would, in humans, be called obstinate. A police dog is a dog that is trained specifically to assist police and similar law-enforcement personnel with their work. Police dogs are often referred to by the term K9 , which sounds like the term canine , a word that generally refers to the dog and its relatives.

In many jurisdictions the intentional injury or killing of a police dog is a felony, subjecting the perpetrator to harsher penalties than the statutes embodied in local animal cruelty laws. Depending on jurisdiction, the perpetrator may be charged the same as if a human officer were injured or killed. A growing number of forces outfit dogs with bulletproof vests (and some even go so far as to give the dogs their own police badges and IDs). Furthermore, a police dog killed in the line of duty is traditionally given a full police funeral/burial just as they would for a human officer. If the dog is killed or injured by another animal, like a big cat, bear, or another dog, the animal would be shot. Police dogs rarely go to cases involving other animals like drug dealers using other dogs or exotic animals to guard the evidence.
